WRITTEN by popular author Michael Morpurgo, War Horse tells the tale of Joey, a colt sold into the cavalry in the First World War.

Bought originally by the Narracott family, Joey forges a close link with the son, Albert, before he is handed over to a young officer.

Joey is later captured by the Germans, used by deserters and adopted by a French peasant family, before finding himself alone in no man's land, where he is reclaimed by the British.

Eventually, Joey is reunited with Albert who joined the war in an attempt to get his horse back.
