“Some very interesting comments and in particular one about how to claim against SCC. I've been through this process and can offer some insight. First off SCC will deny all knowledge of the pot hole and advise "their man" has walked the road and found nothing or that no one else has reported the pot hole. They will then deny liability. Do not accept this but advise you will be putting the matter into the hands of your solicitor within the next 7 days if the claim isn't paid in full. Worked for me and got paid out. Also to help others in the same boat and to stop SCC using the excuse about the hole not having been reported, log the whereabouts by visiting fillthathole.org.uk They will graphically show the whereabouts of the hole and therefore make it public knowledge. Additionally the will report it to SCC who will then have not a single leg to stand on. Good luck.”

“I hardly think that the A25 is dangerous from Westcott through to Dorking, not because of the pot holes anyway.
I use it several times a day and find that driving with care at suitable speed is fine. Different colours likely relate to what colour aerosol the inspector has at the time of his visit, although if any one wants to suggest something more sinister it will be an interesting read!”

“The A25 from Westcott Village to the UNUM turnoff is splattered with pot holes - some go right across the road. Even the ones Surrey Highways have tried to fill are breaking up and this part of the road, which carries a substantial amount of traffic daily, is now very dangerous.
I have one question - what diffrerence does it make if a series of potholes are bordered in orange, yellow or blue paint, or have not been given a pretty border at all.”

“Common sense should prevail, weather conditions have been un usual this winter causing road challenges. It all takes time to be fixed! People being what they are will still have accidents no matter how much legislation is put in place or how smooth the road surface. I agree that some drivers need a man with a red flag, not just at the front either.”
