Security review as vandals foul a school pool with soiled nappies
TEACHERS and governors at an infant school that had its swimming pool trashed by intruders last week have condemned the vandals.
The incident took place between 1.30pm and 2.30pm on Monday, August 16 at Newdigate Infant School in Village Street.

Police said three youngsters broke into the pool and emptied bins containing soiled nappies into the water.
The school's head teacher, Linda Trueman, said: "Two of our parents who were coming to open the pool up for the afternoon found it and they were quite upset and concerned.
"The kids soiled the pool with various bits and pieces that were lying around. Fortunately, they didn't do any huge physical damage to the pool or the cover.
"We are disappointed that it happened because a lot of people went to a lot of effort looking after the pool during the summer.
"Is it disappointing that some people can be so inconsiderate. They do not respect property."
Ms Trueman said the school would be looking at its security measures following the incident.
"What we will have to do is make sure that we haven't got anything nearby that can be used to climb over the fence if people are going to use it to get into the pool", she said.
"We will have to review our security to make sure it doesn't happen again."
School governor Corinna Osborne-Patterson said: "I think it's absolutely shocking.
"A lot of time and effort goes into maintaining that pool and keeping it nice, and a lot of money was spent on it. It's a real shame."
Jean Pearson, district councillor for Newdigate, added: "It's disgusting that anybody would want to do anything like that."
She said the incidents are the result of young people being bored over the summer holidays.
"It's just idle hands, they haven't got enough to do," she said.
