THE hot weather has helped some businesses, with shoppers out early for summer favourites.

Mark Pozzetto, assistant manager of Robert Dyas in Dorking, said: "We've definitely seen a big increase in the number of barbecues we've sold.

"Gardening stuff has also picked up a lot earlier than usual. Over Easter we even stated to sell fans and air conditioning units so it has definitely affected how things are going."

And SC Fullers on South Street has also seen a boost in summery sales.

Mechanic Charles Webb said: "Bike repairs are definitely up. They follow the weather because our customers are fair weather cyclists. When it turns nice they go out with their kids and then work on the repairs side picks up."
