A LEATHERHEAD charity has won a silver medal at the Hampton Court Flower Show for its therapeutic garden.

Combat Stress, which treats veterans suffering from the psychological effects of warfare, won its third silver medal in as many years for its garden.

The garden, built by Dorinda Wolfe Murray and designed by Fi Boyle, is intended to be used by patients and has a gentle and flowing design to help them relax.

A spokesman for the charity, based in Oaklawn Road, Leatherhead, said: "Unlike most gardens at the Hampton Court Flower Show, this will not simply be broken up – it will be dismantled and relocated to the courtyard at Tyrwhitt House, our short-stay treatment centre in Leatherhead, to provide a place of comfort, reflection and inspiration."

The opening of the garden was attended by the garden's builder and designer, Combat Stress chief executive David Hill and seven members of the Coldstream Guards.
