South Park 1

THREE soft goals in the first half cost South Park any chance of reaching the League Cup semi-finals.

Park, who put in a below par performance, started the brighter, West putting a speculative effort wide.

They took the lead on 12 minutes when a short corner to Burgess was returned to Mottram, whose cross found Mellows and he headed home from eight yards.

Eversley equalised seven minutes later when, from a corner, their centre half headed home unchallenged.

Eversley won the midfield battle, but both sides struggled to test the keepers.

Eversley led on 37 minutes when a half-cleared corner dropped to Thorne on the edge of the box and he had time to place his lobbed shot into to the roof of the net.

Just before the break, Smith drilled in a right-wing cross from eight yards. Park had the better chances in the second half, but Eversley were dangerous on the break. Mellows had a diving header saved by the keeper at full stretch.

Park visit Cobham on Saturday and host Farnham Town in the League Premier Cup on Tuesday (7.45pm).
