CHILDREN with speech and language impairments have been speaking at Westminster.

The pupils of Moor House School in Mill Lane, Hurst Green, discussed the role of speech therapy during the visit.

They spoke with East Surrey MP Sam Gyimah during their visit on October 17, highlighting how speech and language therapy had transformed their lives.

Pupil Matthew Bore from Lingfield said it was a great opportunity to talk with the MPs.

Mr Gyimah said meeting the pupils demonstrated the critical role of speech therapy.

He added: "Despite their difficulties they were able to convey loud and clear how speech and language therapy is literally transforming their lives."

The trip to Westminster was part of the Giving Voice campaign led by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.

Aoife Gallagher, head of Therapy at Moor House, said: "It was fantastic to join with fellow speech and language therapists from across the country."
