Tesco's plans to transform a former petrol station into a supermarket have been given the thumbs-down.

Councillors sitting on Mole Valley District Council's development control committee tonight (Wednesday) felt the supermarket giant's proposed store in The Street, Ashtead was too large.

They unanimously agreed with the council planner's recommendation that Tesco's proposed supermarket should be refused.
