Surrey invaded by big hairy spiders
Arachnophobes are in for a shock this Autumn with bumper numbers of spiders expected to crawl into your home.
An influx of house spiders and daddy long legs is due to hit East Surrey after last year's wet Autumn provided perfect breeding conditions.
Spiders are also bigger and hairier at this time of year because the species have swollen for breeding.
Have you noticed an influx of spiders? And are you an spider fan or an arachnophobe ? Let us know by calling the newsdesk on 01737 732089.

“The news of the big hairy spider invasion is scary enough but even more astonishing is the revelation (according to the article) that spiders are now ¿insects¿. Is there something in the water that has caused them to mutate into a different species?”

“I've definitely seen lots more spiders than normal. Those in the garden are welcome and I don't mind the small or skinny-legged ones inside but those large hairy spiders send shivers down my spine.
I've had around 7 of them in my home in the last few weeks, including the largest one I've ever seen in my life (outside of a zoo!).
As for Dave the Postie's comment about one crawling down his back - that's got me shuddering in horror...”

“Put conkers in all of the corners of your house and by your door way. It will drive the spiders outside. ;-)”

“I have noticed a huge influx of spiders, they seem to be everywhere and alot bigger than usual. We had one in our house once, my husband put a pint glass over it and because it was so big it's legs where on the outisde of the glass!!”

“I am absolutely petrified now. I really should not have read that!! I am so scared of them, last time there was one my friend had to walk to the other end of my road at 3am with it to save me.
I am actually never going to sleep this autumn.”

“I am a postie, and i can confirm that i have never in previous years walked through so many webs. I have had countless spiders caught up in my hair, and also one rather large hairy one crawled down my back inside my shirt!! I actually quite like spiders and would not harm them, but this is a bit too much.”
