Tanners reach League Cup semi-finals
LEATHERHEAD are dreaming of cup glory after making it through to the semi-finals of the Isthmian League Cup on Thursday night.
The Tanners travelled to Ryman South high-flyers Fleet Town and progressed to the semi-finals with a superb 3-0 victory.
So many postponements recently could have worked against the Tanners, or in their favour and with Fleet having played on Tuesday night, it certainly worked in Leatherhead's favour as they ran out comfortable winners in the end.
They got off to the perfect start when Tommy Hutchings fired a thunderbolt from all of 30 yards inside six minutes to give the visitors the lead.
They did not have it all their own way though as Fleet came back at them and the Tanners had to hang on at times, but the defence held firm.
If they got the perfect start in the first half, the second was much the same.
There were barely 15 minutes on the second half clock when Kev Terry rifled home the second.
Chris Boulter powered in a header towards the end of the match to send the travelling Tanners fans delirious and dreaming of cup glory.
