Banstead teacher Keith Ogunsola facing prison for sexually assaulting pupil

A PAEDOPHILE teacher who lured an underage teen to a hotel before taking her virginity by raping her is facing a jail term after being convicted of a string of sex assaults.

Science teacher Keith Ogunsola, 47, was found guilty of taking a schoolgirl to a Purley Way hotel and raping her – before forcing her to continue having sex with him for the next three years.

Croydon Crown Court heard how the father-of-three repeatedly forced the girl into the sick trysts, and made her wear her school uniform – telling her to wear skirts with no knickers so it was "easier for him to have sex" with her.

Ogunsola who taught at the local school, which cannot be named for legal reasons, between September 1998 and December 2001, was found guilty of three charges of rape, indecent assault and engaging in sexual activity while in a position of trust.

Prosecuting Hannah Llewellyn-Waters said: "She turned to him for additional guidance and this defendant betrayed her trust by exploiting her naivety and respect for him for his own sexual gratification.

"He created a bond of trust in his capacity as her teacher and tested the water by kissing her and when she did not complain he escalated his grooming process and took her virginity from her with an act of rape.

"She was manoeuvred into a position where she did not tell anyone, believing her word would not be believed against a teacher and the defendant told her what to do, say and wear.

"She lied to her family about where she was going and what was happening and the defendant told her if anyone found out they would not believe her.

"When she wanted to have a boyfriend he became jealous and when she refused to have sex with the defendant he ripped her clothes off and raped her again."

The court heard how Ogunsola took his victim for regular sex in his car around Purley as well as taking her to hotels around Croydon, Gatwick, Milton Keynes and Southend.

Ogunsola is set to be sentenced at Croydon Crown Court in June.
