A TEENAGE driver has been arrested following a 10-mile police chase starting in Leatherhead.

Police officers attempted to stop a black Fiat Punto at 1am in Epsom Road, Leatherhead on Wednesday of last week.

The driver, who had one passenger, failed to stop.

According to the police, the driver drove at speed through red lights before finally being brought to a halt at Queens Road, in Walton-on-Thames – a distance of approximately 9.8 miles.

An 18-year-old male from Dorking was arrested and charged with a number of offences. He will appear at Redhill Magistrates Court on May 13.

The passenger was released without further action.
