A TEENAGER ran out of a Bookham store with a trolley of stolen goods. a court has heard.

Redhill Magistrates Court heard how Johnny Brazil, 18, was involved in a mini crime spree in April. He was arrested on April 9 having failed to pay his fare on a Dorking-to-Redhill train.

He then vandalised a security camera in a custody cell at Reigate police station causing an estimated £276 damage.

Prosecutor Hema Moore told magistrates last Thursday how he had carried out a theft the week before from the Co-operative store in High Street, Bookham. She said: "He had a conversation with a sales assistant along the lines of 'what if I filled up a trolley with stuff and ran out with it? I would make a good profit. Minutes later he did just that, running out with five cartons of wine in a trolley."

Tim Rothwell, defending, said: "For the first time in my career someone has made a full and frank confession before committing an offence."

Brazil, who lives in Slough, also admitted twice failing to answer bail, was jailed for 14 days.
