Tyron Sealey started as he means to go on with a brace on his debut, as Redhill got the goals, if not the points, that they were looking for.

Manager Marcus Alcindor was pleased with the performance and believes Sealey might be the answer for the normally goal-shy Reds.

"I wasn't pleased with the result, but the performance was an improvement," he said.

"The players dug in despite the bad conditions. I think the referees are under pressure not to call off matches and Ringmer wanted to play us during our recent bad spell; but it was terrible. The players looked like Bambi on ice."

Sealey had only scored three goals all season for previous club Slough Town, but the former Stevenage and Maidenhead striker is already making at impact at Kiln Brow.

"He did well," enthused Alcindor. "He's got a good record and showed he can put the ball in the back of the net."

Redhill host divisional leaders Chichester City on Saturday. The sides have each one 1-0 in two previous encounters this season and Alcindor believes both teams will want to settle a score.

"I can't wait for the game," he said. "Chichester play proper football and I think Redhill play better against sides who play football as well, rather than boot the ball around on a bog – and of course we want to get back at Chichester."

In the opening minutes against Ringmer, the returning Leon Dussard made a brilliant run into space, but unfortunately new-boy Sealey, who had made a one-two with Daniel Morris, did not read Dussard's run.

Keeper Chris May had his first job to do when he clawed away a cross from Ryan Macmillan.

At the other end, Sealey almost scored when Morris put over a superb cross that Sealey worked hard to reach. His header went inches over the bar.

Moments later, Sam Sowter got in behind Tashan Nicholas, and cross for Macmillan who challenge with May. The Reds keeper fumbled but recovered.

Just before half-time, Calvin Headley smashed a shot over the bar that was well worth the effort, then Sowter hit a shot straight at May.

In the second half, it was the Mark Price show, with Ringmer's midfield maestro having two chances. The first was a shot that went straight at May, the second was a low free-kick that shaved the post.

As the game drew to a close, the tension mounted as neither side wanted to concede. In a frantic finish, Ringmer took the lead on 85 minutes when one or two lucky ricochets went their way before the ball went in.

It took Redhill just 30 seconds to level when substitute Chris Hubbard whipped in an inch-perfect cross that Sealey knocked into the net with equal precision.

On 90 minutes, Ringmer were awarded a penalty after a foul by Josh Bonnet. The spot kick was well struck and Ringmer found themselves 2-1 up and looked certain to take the points.

However, again, it took only 30 seconds for Redhill to draw level. This time, Daniel Morris provided the cross for Sealey to score his second on his comfortable debut.

Next for Redhill is a home match against league leaders Chichester on Saturday, before an away tie against St Francis Rangers on Tuesday March 9.

Redhill: May, Nicholas (Bonnet), Headley, Hudson (Hubbard), Difford, Hogg, Sealey, Ofusuhene, Morris (Elliot), Radford, Dussard.
