Chris Adams has warned Surrey's supporters that turning the Brown Cap's fortunes around will not be an easy task as settles into his role as the club's new cricket manager.

A disastrous run saw Surrey relegated to the division two of the County Championship last season and Adams said the club would have to change.

"Having spoken to the players there is a real thirst for change, to bring this cricket club up to date.

"I am finding there is a massive amount of work that needs doing.

"If there are passengers around then they won't be on the trip for very long, I am adamant about that."

The 38-year-old replaced Alan Butcher at the Oval and maintains he wants to draw a line under the past.

"I don't want to talk about the people who were in charge, I just want to move forward.

"I am going to have to be careful not to rush things, I am by nature impatient and want certain things done in a certain way. I want them done yesterday.

"But I know that this is not about a quick fix, this is about implementing strong foundations, strong strategies and making sure in the first instance that it is the professional squad that we concentrate on."

“Sounds a bit like he is making excuses before he starts! But it will take a while to turn that shambles around. Let's hope they can improve this season, but firts they need to sign a bowler capable of taking 50 Championship wickets. Ormond is too fat.”
