Valley athletes show promise at Sutton
DORKING & Mole Valley Athletics Club combined well with Reigate Priory to finish fifth in Division S24 in the second national Young Athletes match at Sutton Arena.
Five first year U13 girls competed, with Lucy Brett reaching a Grade 4 standard as she ran the 800m in 2:41.6 and the 150m in 22.2 seconds. Hannah Morris was third A in the 1,200m (4:37.5) with 10-year old Ellie Parnham first B in 4:43.8.
Rebecca Loomes was third B in the 800m in 2:56.3 and Emily Hornung first B in the long jump with 3.37m.
In the U15 girls Isobel Irwin placed second A in the 800m, timed at 2:35.2 and she long jumped 3.47m. Lois Davis was second B in the 800m in 2:43.6, while Leah Dyson was first B in the U17 high jump with 1.43m.

In the National Junior (U20) League at Reading, Leanne Bettis was delighted with a big personal best in the 100m as she recorded a DMV U17 record of 13.5). She also threw the discus 31.56m and triple jumped 9.44m.
There was a big turnout at the midweek open meeting at Crawley. Charlie Wyllie seems to like the tight finishes - having lost the Surrey 1,500m by 0.03 seconds - he won the 800m by the same margin as he dived for the line.
His 2:24.24 beat Ben Brunswick's U13 record by half a second and was only just outside the UKA Grade 1 standard. Brunswick improved his own PB as an U11 by running 2:20.61 and in the same mixed race W35 Louise Ionascu was timed at 2:32.25.
In a British Milers Club 800m race, U15 Jack Wyllie recorded a 2.17 minutes, a PB, with coach Rob Russell timed at 2.20. Kasin Kublik had a season's best of 33.60m in the discus.
