Banstead boss Paul Norris was delighted after his side leapfrogged fellow strugglers Dorking to go fourth bottom of the division with a 2-0 win.

Norris said: "I couldn't fault the commitment and effort of my players.

"They gave me 120 per cent, two good goals, a clean sheet, but more importantly three valuable points.

"I don't want to single out any particular players because it was a very good team performance, but Danny Lawrence drove us on, and Sol Patterson Bohner making his debut is certainly a good addition to our squad.

"We have to take the positives from this game into our next one against a very good Epsom & Ewell side on Tuesday evening at Merland Rise."

The pitch survived an inspection by the referee and Banstead started positively, threatening to score at every opportunity.

Dorking didn't really pose a threat to them, they were content with the "long ball tactics" according to the A's manager.

Banstead could and should have been four or five up by half-time, but again the finishing part of their game let them down.

On 42 minutes, though, Zak Graham saw his opportunity and put Banstead 1-0 up.

Norris was disappointed going in only one up because they had dominated the game so much and "taking your chances in front of goal is what it's all about" he said.

In the second half, again Banstead were on the front foot, they defended really well with the high balls and the playing surface.

Norris sent on Kieran Ogunkoya up front on 65 minutes and within a quarter of an hour he had made his mark on and scored Banstead's second.

Norris wished Dave Tidy, his goalkeeping coach, all the very best on his departure and sincerely thanked him for all his time and effort.
