DORKING Wanderers cemented their position in fourth place in the league with a comprehensive victory over lowly Forest on Saturday.

A hat-trick from Matty Evans, his first for the club, set up the win.

The visitors were 4-0 up inside the first 20 minutes, a lead they took into the break.

Top scorer Lee Smith opened the scoring inside three minutes before Evans bagged his first of the game.

Jerome Beckles then notched his first goal for the Westhumble club and Evans grabbed his second as Wanderers threatened to run riot. All four goals were set up by the ever-impressive John Hamsher.

But that was to be the end of the scoring for the first half as Forest shut the door.

They could not keep it closed in the second half though as Wanderers rattled in three more, Evans claiming his hat-trick, Shane Jones getting on the scoresheet and Smith scoring the goal of the game to round it all off.

Before he did that though, the Wanderers back line did suffer a slight lapse in concentration as they missed out on their clean sheet by conceding a consolation goal.

Manager Marc White was happy with what he saw.

He said: "It was pretty comprehensive, we're playing really well without any pressure right now."

The size of the victory was made even more impressive by the fact that the team's preparations were hampered by arriving late for the match.

White added: "We only turned up 10 minutes before kick-off. There was a mix-up with kick-off times, we thought it was 3pm and it was 2pm, but we're a team in form.

"It was one-way traffic throughout and probably for the first time we played the same outfield 10 for the second game in a row.

"The team we are getting out there at the moment is really strong and the next two weeks will be tense for us. We are signing players for next season and we need these boys to re-sign."

Wanderers played Ifield Edwards on Tuesday night before their last game of the season at Uckfield this Saturday.

Wanderers: Lennie, Hirrell, Dunne, S Duffell, Beard, Beckles (Griffin), Jones, Hamsher, Davis, Smith, M Evans (Sheffield).
