Warlingham hold league leaders
CCL Division One
Mole Valley SCR
Warlingham 1
Since the two teams met in October the home team had won 16 of their last 17 games soaring up the league in the process.
Warlingham won the last fixture 5/2 and were dually given the respect of the home side who lined up with a lone striker and a five man midfield in front of a back four.
Manager Mark Doherty was without James Hang and James Hodge through work and suspension and Anthony Williams who was on holiday.
Warlingham took the game to the hosts right from the off and the first 25 minutes were all more or less played in Mole Valley's half with chances falling to Mart and Janson but the home sides keeper was in fine form to deny both Wars strikers.
On 35 minutes Simon Mar ts shot struck a post from an acute angle but bounced out to safety.
The last moves of the half and Valley came into the match counter attacking at pace and forcing Warlingham debut keeper Guy Nuthall into action but he was equal to the task.
Valley could of had a penalty when skipper Paul Stewart lunged into a tackle in the box but the ref adjudged it a fair tackle to the anger of the home supporters, the half ended 0-0 rather disappointingly for all Wars possession.
The second half was a fiercely competitive affair with both teams fighting for every ball Simon Mart caused problems all afternoon without getting the goal he deserved and at the other end Michael Brown and Ricky Bygraves contained the leagues top scorer who was looking for his 36th of the season, Bygraves in particular was outstanding giving his pacey opponent not an inch of time or space.
With 20 minutes to go Valley took the lead with a quickly taken free kick while the Wars players were contesting the original foul, the ball being played to the side of Wars defensive wall and slotted past Nuthall from eight yards.
Doherty immediately brought on Stephen Joseph and Ben Stuart and went to three up front to chase an equaliser and the changes had an effect with the home side changing their formation to try and defend their lead.
Martin Bugden went close from 25 yards but his shot went inches wide.Wars were not to be denied and five minutes from time Mart again went down the line and crossed for young Stephen Joseph to pounce and net the equaliser.
With time running out young Micheal Brookman was introduced and Bygraves pushed forward to try for the winner and in the last minute Joseph nearly got it after beating the home defence only a last ditch tackle denied the youngster the winner and the game ended level at 1-1.
