Combined Counties League Division One

Warlingham 3

CB Hounslow United 0

Warlingham secured their third successive win with three second half goals, but chairman Steve Rolfe admitted that the game was closer than the scoreline suggests.

"It was a tight game," said Rolfe. "It was even until we scored and then we took advantage as they pushed on to equalise and left themselves open.

"It wasn't a comfortable win, but it was a good win.

"CB Hounslow are a good side, but, like us, they've struggled to collect the points recently.

"In the past we have struggled to score goals, but in the last few games we have been trying to turn that around."

Rolfe, while acknowledging that Warlingham's goal is in good hands, is realistic about what the team can achieve this season.

He said: "Our goalkeeper Danny Eaton had a good game, and the rest of the team played well.

"We are not exactly going to win the league, but the way we have been playing, we want to rise up the league a bit towards the end of the season."

Both teams had a slow start to the match, the battle remaining in midfield as the sides struggled with the terrible conditions.

It was not until the second half that Warlingham got their breakthrough.

Liam Neaves scored in the 54th minute with a left-foot strike from 20 yards that catapulted into the top corner.

A quarter of an hour later Warlingham doubled their advantage through Lee Jansen, who connected sweetly with a cross, sending the ball in at the far post.

With CB Hounslow searching for a way back into the match, the time was ripe to finish them off.

Martin Bugden got Warlingham's third with only 10 minutes left when he capitalised on CB leaving themselves open at the back.

Bugden received a clever through ball and neatly chipped the ball over the advancing keeper to give Warlingham a slightly flattering scoreline.
