Farnham Town 4

Warlingham 3

Warlingham tasted defeat on their travels for only the second time this season as they lost out in a thrilling match at Farnham Town.

Manager Mark Doherty welcomed Martin Bugden back into his squad after two weeks out with injury and intended to start with the same team that was so good at Worcester Park two weeks ago.

Richard Williams was forced to pull out after getting injured in the pre-match warm up and Doherty replaced him with brother Anthony in the starting line up.

Wars started well and Simon Mart and James Ang both went close in the early exchanges, but on 20 minutes Farnham scored after Stevenson's weak punch out from a corner was fired home from close range.

After half an hour, the keeper seemed to misjudge a shot and instead of going wide the ball crept inside the far post to make it 2-0, a lead they took into the break.

Following the interval, Wars took the game to Farnham and on 55 minutes Ang was released and scored to make it 2-1 .

But on the hour Stevenson again punched weakly from a corner and the ball was fired home from seven yards to make it 3-1.

Wars were struggling to deal with Town's crosses and on 64 minutes found themselves 4-1 down when another good cross was met with a glancing near post header that gave Stevenson no chance in goal.

The visitors made it 4-2 with a Lee Janson strike on 68 minutes and it spurred them on as they battered the home team's defence, Mart in particular causing panic and nearly scoring twice.

Bugden reduced the deficit with a header from Mart's cross and the final 10 minutes saw wave after wave of attacks but Farnham defended well and took the three points.

Warlingham: Stevenson, Brown, Hodge, Bygraves, Williams, Stuart, Nash, Greenhouse, Mart, Janson, Ang.

Subs: Brown, Bugden, Wiliams.
