You might be dreaming of a white Christmas, but you don't need real snow for a day of winter fun.

Seasonal skating rinks are popping up all over, with some really spectacular locations to whizz around the ice.

Whether you can skate like a pro or are just hoping not to be like Bambi on ice this winter, a day out skating can be a lot of fun.

Here's our pick of some of the best days out to this winter's skating rinks.

Please note: All rinks will be closed Christmas Day except for Guildford Spectrum.

Brighton Centre's Get Your Skates On

Where: Brighton Centre, Kings Road, Brighton

When: December 20 - January 2

Sessions: 9am - 10.30pm daily, Christmas Eve 9am - 6.30pm, Boxing Day 11am - 6.30pm, New Years Eve 9am - 6.30pm

Price: Adults £9, under 12s £7

About: The Brighton Centre will also be holding a Christmas market on December 20 to launch the rink, with stalls, eco-friendly gifts, Santa, carols, family photography, beauty treatments and festive face painting. Market 10am - 5pm. Holiday On Ice takes over the rink in January.

Canary Wharf

Where: Canada Square Park, Canary Wharf, London

When: November 14 - February 21

Sessions: 9.45am - 11pm daily, Sundays 9.45am - 7.30pm

About: Back for the fifth year and sticking with last year's bigger rink is the chance to skate surrounded by Canary Wharf's world-famous towers.

Dorking Gala Night

Where: Skating rink at Dorking United Reformed Church, West Street, Dorking

When: December 10

Sessions: Half hour sessions from 4pm – 9pm

Price: £5

About: The skating rink is opening as part of the Dorking Gala Night, which is taking place across the town and features lots more entertainment including a Santa's grotto children's rides, carol, singers, drama and music. Skating rink tickets must be booked in advance from the number below and include skate hire, a soft drink a packet of crisps.

Guildford Spectrum

Where: Guildford Spectrum, Parkway, Guildford

When: Open all year round, see below for Christmas opening times between December 21 and January 3

Sessions: Monday to Wednesday 11am - 6.15pm, Thursdays 11am - 6pm, weekends 11am - 4.45pm, Christmas Day 10.30am - 12pm, New Year's Eve 11am - 4.30pm

Price: Adults from £4.70, concessions from £3.30, children from £3.90, families from £14.40

About: This is the only rink to open on Christmas Day. The Olympic-sized rink is perfect for brushing up on your skating skills, and penguin skate is available for children.

Natural History Museum

Where: Natural History Museum, Cromwell Road, London

About: The Natural History Museum's rink is one of the most recognisable in London. There's a new 1,050 square metre rink, a smaller one for children, a fairground carousel and stalls.

Skate at Somerset House

Where: Somerset House, Strand, London

When: November 17 - January 24

Sessions: 10am - 10.15pm, until 11.30pm on selected dates

About: Skate at this spectacular setting and celebrate the rink's 10th birthday. Sponsored again by Tiffany & Co., the tuck shop sells glam jewellery as well as yummy cupcakes. Look out for special sessions including DJ nights, skate school and Penguin Club for children.

Tadworth Children's Trust Christmas Fair

Where: Tadworth Court, Tadworth

When: November 28

Sessions: 12pm - 5pm

Price: Entry to fair adults £3, children free. Skating £5 each, book in advance

About: The annual fair to raise money for The Children's Trust is back with its popular rink. There'll also be a Santa's grotto, donkey rides, carols, stalls and a super draw with a top prize of £3,000. The Children's Trust supports children with multiple disabilities, complex health needs and acquired brain injuries.

Tower of London

Where: Tower of London, London

About: Skate in front of one of London's most historic buildings, the Tower of London. You can also take lessons or hire a group ice guide for an hour.

About: The new kid on the block, this ice rink is set to be the biggest ever in Britain. You can glide the length of Wembley Stadium and children can practice on a smaller rink. Also as part of their ICExperience you can sneak a peek at the England team changing rooms and players' tunnel.

Snowglobe at the Belfry Shopping Centre, Redhill

Where: The Belfry Shopping Centre, Redhill

When: November 29 - Christmas Eve

Sessions: Open during shopping centre opening hours

Price: £8 for up to four people, £12 for up to six people

About: No, this isn't a skating rink but while we are on the winter wonderland subject, we thought you would love to know about the Snowglobe coming to Redhill's Belfry Shopping Centre this Christmas.

Up to six people of any age can step into the magical snowy winterland to create their own Christmas scene and have their photo taken to send as a special Christmas card. TV star Linda Robson, who is in this year's pantomime at The Harlequin, Redhill, will open it on Sunday (November 29) at 11am and there will also be lots of free entertainment on the day with Mercury FM DJ Garry Wilson as host.
