An accident on a zebra crossing in Reigate has fired up campaigners who claim the area is a "death trap".

A woman in her 40s was injured as she walked over the crossing on Croydon Road on Friday (February 26) at around 12pm.

Sarah-Jane Morris, of Doods Road, said she has been lobbying Surrey County Council since she moved to the road 14 years ago.

The mother-of-two said: "It is an accident waiting to happen, it's a death trap.

"We've been campaigning on and off since we moved here but they always say the same thing 'we have no money'."

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed the accident was "a car versus pedestrian" and the woman in her 40s was taken to East Surrey Hospital with minor injuries.
