“I cannot believe you people are actually having a conversation about parking fees and how much the council charge..!! A poor elderly lady has lost her life..!! Have some decency and respect, which in this day and age is in short supply.”

“This council is now illegally abusing its power and expenditure of rate and tax payers money. We are being charged yearly for policing our streets, which not only involves crime but traffic management. I like most posters here have never seen a police officer in the High Street, never mind surrounding roads and areas. With the exception of civil servants pensions, of which I don¿t have the luxury of, what am I paying my rates for?, pure theft

I urge everyone to stop paying their rates until we see improved policing in the borough”

“This was posted on another thread ..

Congratulations to the councillors who consider that the £1 stealthy evening car parking charge is not a kick in the teeth for the sports centre, Dorking Halls and the Medwyn Surgery. I have heard that numbers are way down at the sports centre and an elderly friend of mine was ticketed recently in the evening after popping into the Medwyn Surgery for a grand total of fifteen minutes. Way to go!! Why cannot the councillors get the wardens to patrol the high street and south street instead in the evenings? At the moment anything goes - parking on double yellow lines, parking across a zebra crossing, parking on dangerous corners and it is getting a great deal worse. Residential streets now have parking day and night and the council still feel that they have the right to charge £1 to park in one of their car parks. Whatever will they think of next? The mind boggles......”

“I drive to Dorking to use the shops because you can park on the yellow lines but I would never park on a Zebra crossing and get 3 points on my licence”
