DORKING suffered their heaviest defeat in a decade at the hands of Egham Town on Saturday.

It was a second half collapse from a young team that did for Tony Webb's side as they slumped from 2-0 down to an 8-0 defeat.

Webb has hastily organised a practice game on Wednesday night to familiarise his new signings with the rest of his squad, as he prepares for the trip to high-flying Camberley Town on Saturday.

Missing full backs Paul West and Jesse Davis through suspension and injury respectively, Webb chose to push centre back Scott Murphy into an unaccustomed midfield position and for the first half an hour, Dorking competed well, certainly showing no signs of the ultimately heavy defeat that was to follow.

But two goals just after the half hour mark from Rowley on 33 minutes, and then Graves on 35 minutes turned the complexion of the game. Dorking managed to make it to half time only 2-0 down, and for the first 15 minutes of the second half got a foothold back into the game, playing their best football of the match.

But once again the visitors pressed the self destruct button, as two goals on the hour mark from Graves, who collected his hat-trick put the game out of sight for Chicks.

At 4-0 down, with 25 minutes to go, Dorking's young heads dropped and the older players, like captain Dan Coote, Dorking's best player on the day, and Roy Newman were unable to influence their teammates.

Goals on 71 minutes from Coultas, a penalty on 76 minutes from Muldowney, a second from Muldowney on 82 minutes and an eighth goal for Egham at the death rubbed salt into the Dorking wounds and inflicted an embarrassing defeat on the club.

Chicks travel to high-flying Camberley Town on Saturday seeking to restore some pride, before a rearranged match with Chertsey Town on Tuesday, November 17.
