Wyllie sets tone for club-mates
CHARLIE Wyllie set the standard for Dorking & Mole Valley athletes to follow at the Surrey Championships in Kingston last weekend.
He began the first day with a fine second in the U15 boys' 1,500m, timed at 4 minutes 34.3 seconds - a personal best and UK Athletics grade three standard.
Sam Cliff led from start to finish to win the U13 1,500m in 4.52.55 (grade two), also long jumping 4.22m (grade four) in eighth.
Ben Brunswick had a season's best 2.11.39 in his heat of the U17 800m, while Bruce Harrold was seventh in the senior 5,000m (16.21.83).

U15 Rebecca Loomes long jumped 3.49m, ran 15.75 in the hurdles, 30.56 in the 200m (PB) and was seventh in the shot with a put of 6.30m (PB).
Emily Hornung ran a PB 2.37.95 in the 800m (fifth in heat) and long jumped 3.85m.
In the 1,500m Hannah Morris was sixth with a PB and grade four standard 5:12.6, with Megan Winslade 11th (5:22.36).
Freya Jhugroo had a big PB in the 200m (28.79) not realising she had qualified for the semi-final. Also gaining a PB in the 800m was Alice Blair (2.44.63).
Lucy Brett just qualified for the 800m final with 2.29.06, but with the outside lane was unable to improve in the final finishing eighth in 2.29.35.
She also recorded 29.4 in the 200m. Susie Crayton (pictured left) was fifth in the shot put with 7.61m and 18.62 in the discus (fourth).
On Sunday Freya Jhugroo ran a PB 14.12 seconds in the 100m, being the fastest non qualifier, and high jumped 1.25m.
Sophie Cooper was fourth in her 100m heat in 14.69. Jack Wyllie took time off from his exam revision to post 4.34.5 (11th) in the U17 1,500m.
In only her third track race, Bea Allan just qualified for the U13 800m final in 2.38.44 and in the final she moved up to fifth (2.39.33).
A very young and inexperienced Louis Amoroso was timed at 14.8 in the U13 100m.
Harry Ramsay ran his U17 men's 400m heat hard, winning in 53.88, before finishing a couple of seconds slower in the final.
