We introduce All Blues – the clue to their music is in the name...

Who are you, where are you from and who does what?

We are All Blues featuring Dr V (Adam Vile) from Redhill on guitar and vocals – I have played in and around the Redhill and Crawley music scene for a number of years; Tall Paul (Paul Cunnell) from Hackney on bass and vocals; Robbie R (Rob Reynolds) from west London on keyboards and JD (John Selby) from north London on drums – he has a history with the Redhill area having played with members of The Cure in the 70s.

What kind of musical sounds emanate from you?

We are a blues band, with a traditional format. We try and keep it as close to the metal as possible with just the raw sound of amps, guitars, keyboards and drums. We play all sorts of blues and blues rock, including jump, Chicago, and British blues styles. We have our own music. but also throw in our own take on some standards. To get a sense of our sound a you would perhaps put Eric Clapton, Dr John, Joe Bonamassa, A Roomful of Blues and maybe even The Hamsters in a pot and mix it around, then season with some Chickenfoot and Miles Davies to taste.

In the big scheme of things, where do you fit in?

Blues is on the rise again – it is having one of its resurgences. The blues is a great framework for development of musical styles and ideas – its great to play and fantastic to listen to. We came together specifically to play blues and to push the blues agenda locally, nationally and then internationally. We are a gigging band and we are moving from pubs to clubs to festivals and hopefully contributing some great tunes.

What have you been up to recently?

We completed a series of 10 gigs in the latter part of 2011, taking us around London and the south. We finished up playing at a Christmas party for the Westminster coroner, in the coroners court. This month we are starting work on our first album, which is being recorded at Treacle studios in London.

Where can we see you play live soon?

Since we are focussing on recording we are only playing occasional gigs this first half of the year. However, you will be able to see us at the 23 mile marker at the London marathon in April. We will play a few covers that day including Keep On Running and Run to You, of course. We are also working out some local dates for early in the year. You can sometimes find some of us at the various open mike nights in the area – The Station in Nutfield, The Star in Dorking and The Fox Revived in Norwood Hill.

And where can we get hold of your music?

Right now you can find live recordings, demos and snippets on our website, YouTube, Reverbnation and shortly on iTunes.

Anything else we should know about you?

We may have a combined age of 200, but you can't play blues without that kind of experience, which is why we are going to take the blues scene by storm, or die trying, in 2012 – watch this space!
