'It doesn't matter who scores as long as we win'
KEV Terry is always being told to be a bit more selfish and take more chances for himself.
But he doesn't care who is scoring as long as the team is winning.
And Leatherhead did just that on Tuesday night, against an in-form Margate side, thanks to two assists from the Tanners front man.
Terry ran on to a through ball from Billy Manners to set up Tommy Hutchings rather than going it alone for the first, and then rolled Elliott Thompson's pass into the path of Manners for the second.
He felt he could have had even more assists, and joked that the only reason he didn't go it alone for the first goal was because it was on his left foot!
He said: "I could have had four assists to be honest, if Tommy had finished off the other two chances, but I'm happy to pass them on, as long as we're winning it doesn't matter who's scoring.
"It was because it was on my left foot basically that I didn't take it on, I saw Tommy running towards me and he's got a better left foot than I have."
"With Billy's one I thought he could have passed it back to me to be honest!"
Terry described the match as a "must-win" game after Saturday's debacle at home to Bury Town and was pleased with the team's performance, which leaves them just one point adrift of safety.
He added: "That was a much better performance from Saturday, it was must-win for us and what's that one point from safety with a game in hand? We'll take that, we played really well, took our chances and scored a couple of great goals."
Manager Richard Brady continuously talks about consistency being key, with Leatherhead following up a 5-0 defeat with a 2-0 triumph and Terry was at a loss to explain the form.
"I'm not too sure why the consistency isn't there," he said. "If I knew that I'd be the manager!
"I'm not too sure, he says work hard and as long as you work hard the rest will come, but it's about working hard every game. I'm not saying we don't work hard every game, but it's about working hard in the right areas and once you're up you've got to take your chances.
"We do look at the league table occasionally, not all the time, the manager just wants us to go out and rack up points and I'm sure we'll be all right."
