Award-winning comedian Sarah Millican takes the mic at The Harlequin, Redhill

Thursday, November 27, 2008, 19:02

Set the recorder on your TV for Friday December 5 because not only will this years's if.comedy Best Newcomer award winner Sarah Millican be headlining at Barnstormers Comedy night in Redhill, she will also be on the BBC quiz show, Have I Got News For You.

Millican took her debut show, Sarah Millican's Not Nice, to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August, winning her the award.

She has been noted for a gentle delivery of some cutting observations on life and love and the Not Nice show she talked about the questions you ask when you split up with someone - "What am I going to do now? What if I want kids? Why do I fancy gorillas?"

You may have also seen Millican reviewing the papers in a light-hearted way on Sky News' Sunrise with Eamonn Holmes, on the quiz show 8 Out Of 10 Cats, and in two editions of this autumn's Comedy Store Series.

As well as working hard on the stand-up circuit (she is down to play at Brighton's Komedia on the same night as the Redhill gig), Millican is busy writing a play, sitcom and radio programme.

Supporting Millican at The Harlequin Theatre is London's Comedy Store resident comedian Martin Coyote.

He is known for his challenging and thought-provoking gags, warmth, laddish charm and a range of diverse talents.

Coyote has supported Lee Hurst on three tours.

Also on the bill is up-and-coming stand-up comic and actress Kerry Godliman - billed by critics as "one to watch".

She too has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe, has gigged all over the UK and been cast for and written television sketch shows, as well as being filmed for Comedy Store Live in 2006 and taking part in a Film Four feature film, Poppy Shakespeare.

Barnstormers Comedy, The Harlequin Theatre, Redhill, Friday December 5, doors 8pm, starts 8.30pm, £12 on the door, £10 in advance, 01737 765547, www.harlequintheatre.co.uk
