Friday, December 19, 2008, 18:00

Learn from music industry professionals in a second round of interactive courses and workshops from Surrey Nu Music.

From drumming and percussion workshops to music technology, DJing and band workshops, each course is performance and practice based.

The courses are held at Soundscape multi arts centre, based at RNIB's Community Living Service in Philanthropic Road, Redhill. The centre provides performing arts facilities and services to blind and partially sighted people and groups.

Workshop tutors on the courses include BBC Manchester's Jazz Musician of the Year 2003 Kevin Davy, Siemy D from the African Jazz Allstars and regular member of the Master Drummers of Africa, DJ Quikfingaz, the tour DJ for UK rapper Skinnyman and Mud Family, and singer-songwriter and community music tutor James Plant.

The courses are open to adults and teenagers over 16, including sighted, partially sighted and blind people. Two places on each course are reserved for blind and partially sighted musicians.

The eight week courses are held on Mondays from 7pm to 9pm from January 26.

They cost £80 except Recording for Musicians which is £100.

Fees will go towards arts provision for the blind and partially sighted at Soundscape.
