One giant leap for young ballet star
A PASSIONATE ballet dancer is heading for national fame after being picked out of hundreds of hopefuls.
Laura Fisher, of Ridgegate Close, Reigate, will appear in the National Youth Ballet's performance of the Rainbow Bear and Alice in Wonderland inspired Scenes from Alice.
Miss Fisher, 15, from Ridgegate Close, Reigate was chosen out of hundreds of hopefuls to appear alongside the dance company in productions which will entertain audiences in Kent and London.
The productions of 'Rainbow Bear' by Stephen Barlow and Wayne Sleep's Wonderland – 'Scenes from Alice' come as part of a varied programme put together by the company.
The St Bede's student has landed the parts of 'Visitor to the Zoo' in Rainbow Bear and a 'Soldier's Card' in Alice.
The London Palladium will host the performances on Sunday. It will be Laura's first with the National Youth Ballet.
She said: "I'm so excited. There's a ten-week rehearsal period then the performances. I can't wait."
"My parents are really proud. They're really excited for me."
Performing with a large dance company is something Laura is familiar with.
The promising dancer, who has attended Reigate School of Ballet for the past 11 years, has already appeared alongside the English Youth Ballet in a production of Coppelia.
She also performed with the Surrey Youth Ballet for 2 years.
