AN own goal in the first half cost Banstead in a game they were desperate to win on Tuesday, with Villa having played three more games.

Leon Wallace could not control the ball when in a good position early on.

Home keeper Paul Brady was the busier and could do nothing after a defensive mix-up allowed Villa to score via A's defender Tom Hughes.

Adam Moriaty, signed on a dual registration from Merstham, had a good free-kick well held by Villa's keeper.

Brady made a point-blank save before the break.

Brady made a double save in the second half and a good shot by Zak Graham was held well by Villa's keeper.

Villa had several chances but, with their main striker allowing Brady to save at his feet late in the game.
