A literary couple attended the opening of a brand new facility at a Bookham infant school.

The new library at Polesden Lacey Infant School, in Oakdene Close, Great Bookham was opened last Thursday (October 9).

Attending the opening ceremony were Ronda and David Armitage the writer and illustrator, respectively, of the Lighthouse Keeper's series of children's books.

Rosie Keedy, the headteacher at Polesden Lacey, said: "We are very proud of our new library, which offers yet another opportunity for our children to discover new books and develop their reading skills."

The library was built during the last term and now holds thousands of books targeting different age groups and reading capabilities.

The opening of the library was part of a week of literary celebrations for the school.

During the week the children designed book covers and made a wall hanging for the library as well as doing a book treasure trail and a circus drama workshop.

The week culminated with a special dressing up day when children and even teachers dressed up as their favourite characters from books.
