Motorcyclist killed on A25
Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal motorcycle accident at the weekend.
The accident happened at about 2.50pm on Sunday when a white transit van collided with a blue and white motorbike on the A25 Reigate Road, near Betwchworth.
Both vehicles were believed to be travelling east, towards Reigate at the time. The 44-year-old motorcyclist, from Croydon, sustained fatal injuries following the smash.

Another motorcyclist who stopped at the scene was travelling in company with the dead man.
The road was closed until 7pm for investigation of the circumstances of the collision.
Witnesses who have not already spoken to the police are asked to ring the Collision Investigation Unit on 01483 639922, quoting reference P10092359.

“Firstly my condolences to the people affected by another tragic death on our roads. Though I do have to take exception at the random comments about Headlights made by Ken Perham. Firstly as correctly pointed out by David S, this happened during the day. But to suggest that Bi-Xenon headlamps are responsible for accidents is plain crazy, if these lights dazzled as you say, then they would not be allowed, simple as that. The reason they look so different to a normal dull Halogen lamp is because they give off a far more natural whiter light. The bottom line is they are far safer than any other sort of lamp as they give the driver better vision, I own a car that has them, I would never want to go back, they are truly exceptional when compared to the older Halogen designs. And surely seeing in the dark is kind of the most important thing. Of far greater concern is the increasing number of lazy drivers who don't put any lights on at all in the dark. Lets tackle that before we start making spurious, and frankly silly suggestions.
Additionally, it seems you have saw fit to the patronise the Police as well. Yes there may not be enough Bobbies on the beat for some people's liking, but crash investigation and getting the answers to what happened are one of the greatest skills and are Police force are the best in the world. And the reason for this? Not to see whether headlights are the problem but to provide those answers to the poor people who have lost someone, in a time of real grief and loss, understanding what happened really helps people come to terms with it.”

“Hello and condolences to all the family of the deceased. It appears from the story in the "Surrey Mirror" That the Van & Motorcycle were traveling in the same direction. Hopefully the Police investigators will pick up on this. Was it on a bend and how acute was the bend? Did either the Van or the Motorcycle have the new Bi-xenon headlights or possibly was someone coming in the opposite direction also with bi-xenon headlights? If the Van had Halogen headlights were they set correctly for the load it was carrying as they might have dazzled any opposing driver coupled with the fact that the opposing driver could have been a Van overloaded and not set correctly? My serious study on headlights at night has found that many drivers are blinding opposing drivers and the Police have too heavy a workload to eradicate this problem. I know my thoughts cannot help this victim or his loved ones but if as a result investigation finds that miss set headlights or blinding dazzling xenon's aided in blinding and blurring drivers vision and steps were undertaken reducing this risk and other families were saved from this horrible situation it may help those left behind in a very small way. That is my hope.
Are the Police missing vital clues?
I have been blindedbixenon! Have you?
Ken Perham”
