A primary school is to open under its new name in September despite parents’ protests.

Hundreds of residents opposed a proposal to change the name of Brockham Primary School and The Acorns in Betchworth and Leigh when they merge.

But the newly created school is to be called North Downs Primary School in the face of local opposition.

And the colour of the school uniform will also change from green to purple, adding to the controversy.
