Disappeared: Ruth Wilson vanished in November 1995

A fresh appeal has been launched to find missing Dorking school girl Ruth Wilson on the anniversary of her disappearance.

Ruth, who was a pupil at The Ashcombe School, in Dorking, and lived in Betchworth, was last seen on November 27 1995.

She was aged 16 at the time and her sudden disappearance puzzled family and friends.

Despite some unconfirmed sightings of her around the Surrey area, Ruth's whereabouts remain a mystery.

Now her father Ian has appealed to the community in a fresh attempt to help find her.

He said: "We just want Ruth to know that we love and miss her and urge her to get in touch.

"We do not want to put pressure on her to return home, but we need to know that she is safe."

On the morning of her disappearance she went into Dorking with friends and after saying goodbye to them took a taxi to Box Hill.

A cab driver dropped her off near the Hand In Hand pub in Box Hill at about 4.30pm.

Earlier that day it is thought she had visited a florist in the town and Dorking library before taking the taxi from Dorking railway station to Box Hill.

Ruth has not been seen or heard from since.

Her parents and younger sister whom she lived with at her

Betchworth home said they have been heartbroken since her disappearance.

She had a passion for music and was a bell ringer and a member of the Betchworth parish church choir.

When Ruth went missing she was about 5ft 3in tall and had dark, shoulder length hair. She normally wears glasses.

If you have seen her, please contact the confidential 24-hour charity Missing People on Freefone 0500 700700 or email seensomeone@ missingpeople.org.uk.
