Fresh snow causes traffic mayhem (VIDEO)

A fresh falling of snow has caused traffic chaos across Surrey as hundreds of people struggled to get to work this morning.

Gridlocked traffic clogged up the A roads as motorists tried to avoid the treacherous side roads.

Thhisissurretoday joined recovery crews as they worked to help beleaguered drivers.

Traffic on the A23 was solid from Gatwick to Redhill, as well as the A217 – forcing many people to abandon their cars and continue their journeys on foot.

The A25 was partially blocked on Redstone Hill, and there were long delays on the M25 with one lane blocked due to snow.

Trains services also faced delays and disruption in the snow.

Motorists were being advised to leave plenty of time for their journey, and to take care driving in icy conditions.
