Officers were called to Little Bookham at 10.20pm on Monday, April 20, following reports a man who had been take ill had become aggressive towards an ambulance crew which was trying to treat him.
The man fled from the ambulance in the direction of the recreation ground in Lower Road.
A police spokeswoman said: "The Surrey Police helicopter, together with officers on the ground, including the dog unit, carried out a full search of the area, but found no trace of the man."
Liz Smith, a spokeswoman for South East Coast Ambulance, said: "We were called to Lower Road, Little Bookham, at 10pm on April 20.
"We had received reports a man had fallen at a grass verge over but when we got there it was reported in the log book that the patient became abusive and ran off.
"There was a police search because our concern was for his safety."
