Wanderers sign former Conference South star

DORKING Wanderers' push for promotion from the Sussex County League Division Three has been boosted by the arrival of a former Blue Square South player.

Former Dover Athletic midfielder Tom Davis, who has experienced promotion from the Conference South on three separate occasions, with three different clubs, has signed for the West Humble club.

And while he will only be on the books for three or four games, manager Marc White believes he will have a big role to play in Wanderers' season.

He said: "Tom is a former England C international and he's a personal friend of mine and has said he would help us out for three or four games.

"He has come down here to keep fit and he played on Saturday and as you might expect he was streets ahead of everyone else on the pitch."

One of the games Davis might have been able to influence was last night's Challenge Cup semi-final with Bosham.

White added: "Tom has signed at the right time and he's a serious asset to us.

"He was that much better than Forest on Saturday, it was a great team performance but notably people were asking who he was and he could well be the match winner for us on Wednesday."
