Father of man acquitted of murder killed by train, inquest hears

AN Ashtead man who died after being hit by a train had been suffering from anxiety about his son’s pending murder trial, an inquest heard.

Stephen Jordan, 52, of Links Road, was killed on September 25, 2008 when he was struck by a train at a level crossing near Green Lane.

An inquest at Woking Coroner’s Court on Thursday heard that Mr Jordan’s son, Michael, was awaiting trial for the murder of 25-year-old Matthew Demko in April 2008.

Michael Jordan was cleared of murder by a jury in February 2009.

Stephen Jordan’s wife, Lisa, told the court her husband suffered from serious depression.

She said: "I think he just felt like an evilness within him".
