“ I had fairly high hopes for this restaurant for my visit with my 6 month pregnant wife after just moving to the area, ill try and break down each aspect: Arrival: Courteous but took us to a table at the window with 90 degree backed bench style seating, going up to shoulder height, totally unsuitable for a pregnant woman. Aperitif: Waitress came over and said 'what do you want to drink?' I asked for a wine list, which she then produced. Lots of decent wine by the bottle, when I asked what was available by the glass, as pregnant wife obviously wouldnt be drinking, I was told 'just the house', my response was 'thats not much of a choice' to which she replied 'no'. So I took a glass of the house white: fishy tasting, lukewarm. Ordering: She came back a few minutes later to ask what we wanted to order. Fortunately Id caught a glimpse of a blackboard on the wall behind me on the way in so I asked her if they were the specials (as she hadnt actually told us about any specials). she merely replied 'yes'. Service: The tables have very nice wooden plate rests on the table, with the cutlery, starter and main, wrapped in napkins, placed on top, The waitress turned up carrying our starters and stood there waiting while we had to remove the cutlery and napkins off of the the plate rests ourselves. For the main course I ordered surf and turf, I had to ask twice for a steak knife, I would have expected this to be given as standard as soon as you order a steak. Overall, service was beyond amateur, food was quite good, but by the time it arrived you just wish youd stayed at home and not bothered. Decent wine list but nothing but house unless you buy a bottle is very poor, you get a better choice in a wetherspoons pub. ”

“I popped in for a meal with my boyfriend, Mum and Dad. I'd heard about The Dining Room being a great place to eat - so I was really looking forward to it.
WOW - its like being in a beautiful old house - you can eat in the sitting room - or go through to another room. 3 in total I think. I had a little wander round but didnt want to look too nosey (unusual for me).
Hot pink walls, old oak tables, candles - great ambience! I loved the cutlery too - really different and quirky.
And the food. Good traditional dinners with a great choice too.
Price wise - bit more than the norm but I was just happy sat nursing my large glass of red wine in beautiful surroundings!!”

“It must be five years, may be more, since I last paid a visit to the Dining Room. Some things, particularly restaurants, are never as food as you remember them but the Dining Room didn’t disappoint.
For those of you who haven’t been, as the name suggests, it is just like having dinner in a lovely dining room of family or friends. The food is however a notch up on even the very greatest efforts of a very dear friend. The mains are magnificent – lamb and mint pie is my recommendation – but as the nights draw in and that winter chill fills the air, the only thing to do is tuck into a great British pud.
One worthy of note is the toffee crumble. My finest memory from those years ago was the jug of custard – it’s been the first thing to spring to mind when the Dining Room has been mentioned. I’m glad to say it lives on in reality and is every bit as good as I remember. Hersham Green is lucky to have such a fine restaurant and it won’t be another five odd years before I return.”

“This is a really classy restaurant, perfect for taking someone special out or celebrating an occassion. It is expensive, but that's because everything about it is quality: the food is divine (I recommend the scallops), the drinks list is fantastic, and the service is unbeatable. It has a good ambience and is in a great location. ”
