MANAGER Marcus Alcindor says if he was the board he would sack him, after Redhill lost 3-1 at home to Ringmer on Tuesday in the Sussex County League – a second dismal defeat in four days.

After being knocked out of the FA Cup on Saturday 2-0 to Norton Sports, the Lobsters suffered at shock league defeat at home to Ringmer on Tuesday night.

Goals from Marc Whiteman and Craig Brown put the visitors 2-0 before Andrew Dalhouse scored a penalty in the second half, but Dave Altendorff wrapped up the game with five minutes to play.

Alcindor admits he is at a loss with how to shock his team into performing.

"We lost against a Sunday team in the FA Cup and we've just lost to a mediocre team here. I don't know what more shocks they need. They need to do it though," he lamented.

"I've changed things around tonight but that doesn't seem to have had an impact, I took Chris Hubbard off at half-time despite him by no meansbeing the worst player on the pitch. I've taken him off to shock people but that's had no effect. We've got to be hungrier for the ball.

"The boys are better than that but they haven't performed. They need to pull their finger out of their backsides."

Tipped as favourites for the league title, the Lobsters seem to be faltering at the first hurdle.

"I don't know whether it's fight, desire or self-belief they are lacking, but it's not ability; we've got that," Alcindor said.

"After they went ahead we never looked like scoring; we weren't taking enough shots and there wasn't enough possession. It's not good enough. That type of performance isn't going to win the league.

"I said to the chairman and the president that if we don't win the league, sack me, and if I was them after seeing that performance and the one on Saturday I'd sack me.

"Josh Bonnett ran his legs off, [Charlie] Stagg was at the races, Dalhouse didn't do much wrong at Marcus Elliott was a candidate for man of the match when he came on. There you go; bring back Lee Radford," Alcindor added.

Ringmer took the game by the scruff of the neck from the start with Glen Mattern being unlucky with a free-kick that was spilled to the feet of Nytram Dixon-Baker.

Redhill went close after a flick-on by Dalhouse to Hubbard saw the forward put in a useful cross but Bonnett's header went just over. After just eight minutes Whiteman found himself in acres of space unmarked after a corner and picked a spot for his headed opener.

Whiteman was again involved minutes later when a well-worked move with Darren Lok and Brown produced another chances much to the displeasure of Chris May in the Redhill goal.

Just before half-time Kyle Morgan and Bonnett combined well but a long-range effort from Charles Ofusuhene went over.

Three minutes after the restart it was 2-0 after Joe Dryer's cross found Brown unmarked in the box for an easy goal. Marauding down the left, Leon Dussard took a shot from an angle.

Bonnett and Dalhouse were working hard but it was Whiteman who had the next chance when, again, he found himself unmarked in the box.

With Elliott on the pitch, the Lobsters looked livelier and on 76 minutes they were awarded a penalty for handball which Dalhouse put to the keeper's right.

But the game was over on 85 minutes when Altendorff, unmarked in the box, put his header out of reach of the diving May.

Redhill: May, Hudson, Dussard, Ofusuhene, Stagg, Dixon-Baker (Howell), Hubbard (Cheeseman), Bonnett, Dalhouse, Morgan (Elliott), Headley. Unused subs: Radford, Kyezu, Ellis.
