Brand in talks about swordsman role

<p>Russell Brand could be taking on the role of a more traditional hero - a real-life swashbuckler - in a new film.</p>

<p>The funnyman, 35, who is currently filming the Arthur remake, has set up Hawkwood, another possible comedy project, Deadline.com reports.</p>

<p>John Hawkwood was a morally challenged but gifted swordsman who was paid to lead European armies during the Renaissance wars.</p>

<p>Russell took the idea to Fox comedy head Nicky Weinstock.</p>

<p>Fox then hired a writer, Jared Stern, to start penning a screenplay with the British star's unique style in mind for the title role.</p>

<p>If it gets developed, Get Him To The Greek star Russell will also produce the action comedy, which is being set up at 20th Century Fox, Deadline.com said.</p>
